Water company Vitens (Havelterberg - The Netherlands)

In 2008 a new filter building was built for the Vitens water company in Havelterberg (province of Drenthe). Vitens is the largest drinking water supplier in the Netherlands. The installations and pumps used to filter the water and pump it round generate a lot of noise.

To limit the noise nuisance for the surrounding area Merford supplied a number of single-sash and double-sash sound-insulating doors for the exterior facade of the building. Since clean drinking water is one of the most important necessities of life, the installation must also be well protected from fire and intruders. This is why the doors, type MF51, are also fire-resistant (60 minutes) and burglar-resistant (resistance class 3). Merford Special Doors also supplied a louvre wall, type Ducowall 50S, for the aesthetic concealment of the stairwell of this building.
